Description
There is an old saying "when did he come, when did he acquire the status of a Pir?"
We have heard this since long and Rafiq Pilibhiti has proved this to be true. He entered the assembly of Urdu poets only a short while ago. He has gained fame and stature very quickly. So much fame and acceptance in so short a period has been the privilege of few people. Eminent intellectuals, critics and litterateurs have appreciated his art.
Rafiq Pilibhiti is an old student of A.M.U and is the son of a respected family. He was born in an atmosphere of letters and learning. He turned to verse writing at the age of 50. However his connection to literature ( literature and poetry) has been there since the beginning of his educational career. He is thoroughly well read in classical poetry and this has polished his love for literature. This is the reason for his having travelled through many levels of evolution. The maturity of his art speaks about his extensive study. He is familiar with Mir, Ghalib and Iqbal, but it is Iqbal who has influenced him most in his poetry. He has paid rich tributes to Ghalib and Wali by writing verse in the same meter as them. A new and obvious angle in Rafiq's poetry is that after absorbing traditional customs of Urdu poetry he appears to be marching toward modernism.
