I bow to the lotus-feet of that greatest of saints, Shri Saccha Baba Maharaj; it is upon His grace that this exposition entirely depends. Otherwise, how can I, his disciple and servant, expound upon Truths that lie much beyond my understanding? Yet again, what can remain unaccomplished for him, who has enthroned in his heart that highest of all deities, i.e. his own Guru.

I bow to Shri Ganapati, that is endowed with a charming elephant-like face, that is clad in bright yellow silk and is exceedingly fond of dancing and of sweets. May He remove the obstacles from our understanding, and may He protect both the writer and the reader from caviling at each other.

I bow to Mother Saraswati, who abides in a white lotus, surrounded by swans; who keeps the mala, the Vina and the Vedas in Her hands; who bears a golden diadem, is possessed of a moon-like face and lotus-like eyes. O Devi, by Your grace even an illiterate fool can compose works of unparalleled beauty and even a mute can expound with nectarine eloquence upon Truths unknown even to the Devas. May You, hence, O Mother, cast a graceful glance upon me.

I bow to all the great sages of the past, like Sri Vedavyasa, Sri Gautamapada, Sri Sankaracharya and others, who ventured to achieve the unachievable – that is to expound in a clear and reasonable way upon That, which lies ever beyond the ken of reason. May their blessings be both on the writer and on the reader, who humbly aspire to tread that same path.
